Manual Data Entry

Date/times and other values can be manually added to the grid with or without a load from an Excel file.

Adding/Editing Values

Select the grid template, switch Config Mode OFF and double click cells to add data.

  • Clicking the Highlight Mandatory Cells button will red underline any mandatory cells in the grid.
  • Validation will be applied on a cell by cell basis as you click off the cell.
  • If a new value entered does not pass validation, the cell will remain underlined with red until the value passes, where the underlining will be removed.
  • Depending upon the Grid Options configuration, a date may or may not be mandatory, and may or may not include the time. If a date is mandatory, then it must be populated in each cell (within the Date/Time column) before the grid can be saved. The cells can be populated individually by manually entering a date/time into each cell, or all Date/Time cells can be populated together, by setting a date/time in the Set Grid Date field and clicking the set button.
  • If the date is not mandatory, and not populated in the cells then it is saved as the current date/time.

Saving Data

Click the Save Data button to save the data into the database. If the grid has passed validation, the data will begin saving to the database. If it hasn't passed validation, a message will be displayed notifying you that there are errors or mandatory information is missing. No data will be saved until the grid has passed validation.

Any points or attributes that are not found in the structure for an Asset/Location in the template will be skipped over and a message will be displayed outlining which points were not found.

If all points/attributes have been found, the data values/timestamps will be saved to each point/attribute for each Asset/Location.

No additional structure will be created within 4D Analytics.

The results of the save can be viewed by clicking the Results of Save button:
